Prof. Pepka Boyadjieva was personally invited and took part in the EFSES 2020 – European Forum on Science & Education for Sustainability 2020 “From Ambition to Action – Together for an Innovative and Sustainable Europe”. The Forum was held in an interactive digital format on the 6th of October.
The Forum was organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as a highlight of Germany’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. Anja Karliczek, Federal Minister of Education and Research, opened the forum.

Prof. Pepka Boyadjieva took active part in the expert workshop “Reversing Inequalities”. The workshop focused on how research on inequalities contributes to achieving the targets of SDG 10 “Reducing Inequalities”. More concretely, the workshop discussed the following questions:

  • How does the existing body of knowledge on inequalities contribute to “leaving no one behind” and to help society on its way to sustainable transformation?
  • What is needed to harvest this knowledge and transform knowledge into action and results?
  • Which topics are the most urgent?

The workshop brought together about 30 researchers from different countries and institutions. All participants outlined that social sciences research has a great potential to contribute to achieving a fairer, less unequal, more sustainable world.
